Flax and Chia Seed Crackers

A healthy and nutritious alternative to store-bought crackers!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup PRANA organic golden flax seeds, ground
  • ¼ cup PRANA organic shelled hemp seeds
  • ¼ cup PRANA organic whole black chia seeds
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp dried herbs of your choice
  • PRANA unrefined Algarve sea salt, to taste
  • PRANA organic fair trade whole black pepper, ground, to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together all dry ingredients.
  3. Add water and mix quickly.
  4. Using a spatula, spread mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet. The dough should be approximately ½ cm thick.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and, using a knife, cut into squares or triangles. Return to oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven, flip the crackers and bake for 15 minutes more or until you reach your desired shade of golden.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool completely.

Made these as written and they turned out crisp. Cut them in little squares - I think that helped for them to dry out / cook faster. Left them overnight and they were a bit soft on the next day. If you don't like flax then the taste may bother you. Next time I may make them thinner so they will stay more crisp.

Step 7: The crackers are still too soggy to remove, and flip them. I had to add another 10 minutes and they still were a bit soggy.
