Gluten-free Apple and Pear Crisp

Ingredients

  • 1 cup apples
  • 1 cup pears
  • 1/3 cup gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup PRANA organic raw pecans, chopped
  • 1 tbsp gluten-free all-purpose baking flour
  • 1 tbsp vegan butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup, divided
  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder
  • 1/4 tsp organic fair trade ground Ceylon true cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the fruit (without peeling) into strips and place in a baking dish. 
  3. Add 2 tbsp of maple syrup, the arrowroot, ground cinnamon and salt to the fruit. Mix well.
  4. Place in preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, mix the oats, pecans, flour and melted vegan butter with the remaining maple syrup and a pinch of salt.
  6. Remove dish from oven and top with the oat mixture. Return to oven and bake for another 10 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool before serving.
  8. Can be topped with fresh fruit or vegan ice cream.
