Here's a recipe for homemade nut mix that makes a perfect portable snack for your desk drawer, on-the-go car rides, or at the movies instead of popcorn! Combine whatever nuts and seeds you have in your cupboards to some coconut strips, which add a delicious and exotic flavor to the mix. Liquid smoke is another great ingredient to keep around, whether it's for seasoning tofu or adding to homemade broth. Try slipping in a few drops the next time you make a marinade, soup or sauce - you'll be instantly hooked!

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ to 1 tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • ⅛ tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup PRANA organic raw European almonds
  • ½ cup PRANA organic raw walnuts
  • ½ cup PRANA organic non-roasted cashews
  • ½ cup PRANA organic coconut strips
  • ¼ cup PRANA organic raw European pumpkin seeds

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Mix the olive oil, liquid smoke and seasonings together in a bowl. Add nuts and seeds, then stir to coat. 
  2. Spread nut mixture evenly on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Toast in oven 15 minutes, stirring frequently. 
  3. Let cool completely and enjoy.
